R&D Scientist/Engineer


Clear Scientific, Inc. is a Chemical and Biological Defense (CBD) company headquartered in Cambridge, MA, USA. Our vision is to be the premier provider of solutions in CBD for the Warfighter and homeland security. Clear Scientific is currently seeking an exceptional scientist/engineer to support our growing product pipeline. 

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver with experience in materials processing, microfabrication, and device characterization. The candidate will be involved with the entire commercialization process, from idea to market. The current position is open to Bachelor level scientists or engineers with 1-3+ years of industry experience. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated, passionate, and creative to join our team. 
 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and test novel materials and devices for chemical sensing

  • Fabricate and prototype sensors and components

  • Identify, develop, and process materials for integration into prototypes

  • Design experiments to systematically characterize and troubleshoot devices and processes

  • Communication with team members and supervisors, both through written reports and presentations

  • Deliver results against aggressive timelines

  • Generate and secure intellectual property for programs as needed


Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with 1-3+ years industry experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to continuously learn/devise new experimental techniques

  • Extremely high attention to detail especially for visual and microscopic inspection

  • At least one year experience working in a lab with wet chemistry – capable of performing basic formulation and following chemical protocols

  • Experience with photolithography and wet etching techniques

  • Proficient with an optical microscope

  • Understanding of (and experience with) electrical or electrochemical characterization techniques

  • Experience with photomask layout with CAD software is desirable

  • Basic competence with Matlab, Python and Labview is desirable

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
