Muscle Preservation Technology Development

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts   |   April 2018

Work is ongoing to develop a neural prosthesis to preserve muscle health and function while preventing atrophy due to a peripheral nerve injury (PNI).

Every year hundreds of soldiers suffer from a PNI while serving our country. The gold standard treatment for this type of injury does not significantly address muscle loss and function for many of these injuries.

In addition, more than 550,000 civilians experience PNI due to accidents in everyday life. The neural prosthesis under development will provide a significant benefit to these individuals by improving their recovery and helping them normalize muscle function.
